The Bible is not a collection of inspiring thoughts. It is the reliable, coherent, sufficient Word of the living God. We do not edit Him to fit the moment — we let the text correct us.
What we mean by the integrity of the Word
God has spoken. The Bible is reliable, coherent, and enough for life and godliness. That is not a slogan we repeat — it is the ground we stand on. If a draft makes the Bible sound fragile, optional, or merely “meaningful,” we rewrite it.
We do not edit God to fit the moment. We do not hunt for a secret key He forgot to mention. We teach context, not isolated slogans, because a verse ripped from its setting can be made to say almost anything. We would rather be clear and faithful than impressive.
And we let the text correct us. The Word is not a mirror we adjust until it flatters us; it is a light that shows us as we are and points us to Christ. When we read it honestly, it reads us back.
How we handle Scripture
Context first
We read what the text said to its first hearers before we ask what it says to us. Meaning is not in the eye of the beholder.
Quote it. Explain it. Don't twist it.
We bring Scripture plainly. We separate what the Bible says from our application so the text stays the text.
Sufficient, not supplemental
We do not add to it or subtract from it. If a claim is not in Scripture, we do not dress it up as Scripture.
Corrected by it
We come to be changed, not to confirm what we already decided. The Word judges us; we do not judge it.
The Word is only half the story
A reliable Word points to a living Person. His presence is the difference the Word always intended.
